*9By KATR1CIA COCHRAN The $1,500,000 Ramada InnRoadside Hotel on the Red RiverValley Expressway, just north ofthe Maurine Street overpass, is formally under way; ground-1 breaking ceremonies were held Thursday morning.Taking part were R. H. (Bob) Mitchell, president of the Wichita Falls Roadside Hotels, Inc.; and his wife, owners and operators of the new Ramada Inn; and Wayne B. Duddlesten, Houston, manager of the Ramada Inn Development Co.Duddlesten is also president of Tex-Craft Builders, Inc., a Houston investment building firm which has been named generalcontractor.Architects are Samson, Marshall and Hilla of Houston.Formal shoveling of the first spadeful of dirt was strictly ceremonial since bulldozers have already been at work clearing the eight and a half acre site which will house the 103-unit luxury motor hotel.CompletionThe Ramada Inn, which will be part of the world’* largest motor hotel chain, is scheduled for completion in June.Mitchell said the facility will include a motor hotel, apartments, filling station, private club, beauty shop, barber shop, self - service laundry and dry cleaner with valet service.The Williamsburg-Colonial architecture which identifies all Ramada Inns will be used on the Wichita Falls facility.The buildings will have year-around air conditioning. A heated! swimming pool, shuffleboard courts and children’s playground will add to the facility’s resortatmosphere.There will be a beautifully-appointed dining room, a 24-hour coffee shop, a curio shop in the! lobby, and radio, television and automatic - dialing telephone in each room.Special consideration will be See RAMADA, Page 4A
