Trust officer namedHILLSDALE — Jauretta L. Dale has joined the Hillsdale County National Bank, bank president Norman Rodgers announced recently.Dale comes to the bank following four years with the Inter-City Bank in Benton Harbor/St.Joseph as a trust representative and 12 years as an assistant vice president and trust officer with Comerica Bank-Battle Creek.She is a graduate of Hillsdale High School and has attended Western Michigan University,Kellogg Community College and two years of the National Graduate Trust School of Northwestern University in Illinois.She is a member of the American Institute of Banking and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. DaleRetail gains againWASHINGTON (AP) — Retail sales climbed 0.5 percent in January, the third consecutive monthly increase, the government said today.The Commerce Departent said retail establishments sold $128.1 billion worth of goods in January, up $600 million from the December sales level after adjusting for seasonal variations.It was the highest level since August, when sales hit $128.9 billion.The January rise followed revised increases of 0.3 percent in November and 1.2 percent in December. Earlier estimates had put the November increase at only 0.1 percent and the December climb at 0.7 percent.Much of the January strength came in auto sales, which climbed 1.6 percent following an increase of 1.9 percent in December. Auto sales had slumped in the fall, when dealers discontinued end-of-the-model-year sales incentives.
