TEXAS TECH SWIMMERS IN ACTION—Texas Tech is going to have a swimming team this year, thanks to the interest Dr. Ray Kireilis, head of the physical educr.tion department, has shown in the sport..And these pictures prove that the Red Raiders scon will be making a splash in intercollegiate circles. Time trials were held last week and the squad is being cut at the present time. Shown here are various candidates in different action shots. UPPER LEFT — Loftin Witcher is shown bobbing, which is how the swimmers “rest,” With hands at sides, they drop to the pool bottom, push up and duck down again. UPPER CENTER—Dr. Kireilis shows Charles Cable, center, and Terry Doan, right, the proper %vay to stroke in the Australian crawl. UPPER RIGHT — DelwinStults finishes his preparatory step before springing off the board and jackniiing into the water from the low-board, BOTTOM LEFT—Stults shows his form in a backward dive. BOTTOM CENTER—Bob Kain, Bill Gething and Witcher, three of the top swimmers on the squad, prepare to dive in for a racing start at the Boy club pool.
