festivities.HOWARD I PTA HOLDS FOUNDER’S DAY PROGRAMThe Howard I Parent Teacher Association held its Founder’s Day meeting Wednesday.The pupils of the fifth grade under the direction of Mrs. Ruby Jaycox gave a program on Washington and Lincoln. Larry Sasser, Freddie Rounsaville, and Walter Hawkins acted as color bearer and ^uard, leading the parents in the 1‘Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag,” Freddie Rounsaville also acted as master of ceremonies with Jeanne Trexler giving the address of welcome.A group of girls consisting of Sheron Tarbutton, Eunice Sherrell, Judith Mims, Bonnie Seymour, Mary Herring, Dorothy Breedon, and Barbara Ann Cox gave “AnImportant Letter” a tribute to Abraham Lincoln.Emory Lizana, Roy Foster, Dewey Riddle, Donnie Sherrell, Don Wilson, Gerald Angle, Harvey Hamm, Edward «McC£pedy, Whil-ford Lynn, Paul Vick, and Harold Bennett gave “The History of Washington.”Two songs, “Massa Linkum” and “Thy Reckoned Without Washington” were sung by a chorus of the following girls: Grace Delmas,Sylvia Halbrook, Mary Kay Smith, Janice Graham, Anna Lee Webster, Betty Lou Raleigh, Barbara Denham, Mary Kathryn Hammond, and Beverly Breedlove.Mrs. O. Hepshire was appointed to represent Howard I in the local Junior Red Cross organization. A complete financial report w as-made by Miss Lilly Bowen, principal, of all the receipts and expenditures by the school since the beginning of the school year.
