A dispatch from. Lexington a few days ago describes a band of gypsies, numbering about 75, who have been camping near that town. “They are under' the leadership of Bert McCall, reputed to be very wealthy. He owns several fine farms situated in Rockingham and Botetourt counties. He is recognized among his followers as the “Gypsy King.” They have nearly one hundred horses with them and their encampment presents quite a military appearance. The town and community are being over-run by them, much to the inconvenience of the residents. Fortune telling is a thriving business with the women.”
