Reed Appears On Behalf UPSBert H. Heed, vice president of Powers Embroidery Inc. in Waco appeared Tuesday in Austin before the Railroad Commission of T exas to testify in hearings on (United Parcel Service s application forservice rights.I T’S is seeking authority from the Commission to provide full intrastate service - pickup and delivers of packages between ail points within Texas. Currently, I PS can onlv provide interstate service except within the commercial-free /ones of D a 11 a s - F o r t Worth. Houston and San Antonio.lexas is one of just two states that restrict I PS intrastate.Heed testified that the lack of UPS service withinthe state has seriously hampered the operation of his business. Reed cited no pickup or delivery service, slow delivery time prohibitive rates, lack ofs t a t e-w i d e coveragedamages, and the inconvenience of bills of lading as the major problems being encountered withother delivery servicePowers Embondery Inc. currently uses.
