WJW radio changes formatCLEVELAND—WJW-AM Radio 850has changed its music format to reach the adult middle of the road audience effective Monday, according to Dick Bremkamp, president and general manager of the Cleveland station.The change is designed to complement its programming philosophy ofexciting personalities, strong local news and sports involvement’* and “to servfe the vast, but ignored adult audience,”included the Cleveland-Akron area, to determine the music artists listeners between the ages of 25 and 60 wanted tohear oh the radio.“Programming to an audience over 25 by playing music selected in the record stores by persons under 25 seemed to me fundamentally inconsistent Particularly when attempting to attract the adult listener, the general manager said.Bremkamp explained in a news release.THE STATION participated in a 60-market, 48-state music survey whichWJW Radio is the 10,000-watt CBS affiliate now under new Cleveland ownership.
