; SAVED FROM RIVERPatrick Bane, Nearly Drowns in p(Gathering Drift Wood.While attemtping to gather a piece of drift wood from the Ohioriver at the foot of Locust street Sunday afternoon, Patrick Bane, Jr., of T29 Mulberry street, came near losing his life. He was rescued by i Clarence Summers and Albert Rook.fStanding on a pile of drift wood, with an axe. Bane attempted to secure a large piece of timber. • He struck at it and fell headlong into a skiff, after the drift had given way with him and he went in water up to h:s knees. From the skiff he tried to secuie the piece of timber and wielded his axe with force. He missed and losing his equilibrim, Bane fell headlong into the river losing his axe. He caught hold of the skiff but the strong current began to \ sweep him and the craft dow’n stream. Summers and Rook seeing Bane’s peril, jumped into a small flat boat and rescued him from theNriver. They were h'ghly commended for their act.EXPECTED BILL FILED.
