Verbov at the regular monthly meeting of the Petersburg Junior Federated Woman’s Club Thursday evening at 8 p. m, in the Petersburg-HopewelH Gas Company offices.Mr. Verbov is a Russian born U. S. citizen who came to this country in 1916 and became a citizen in 1927. He has made his home in Colonial Heights for the past twenty years while working in Washington as a banquet waiter at several of Washington’s leading hotels.During his 44 years in this country, /Mr.; Verbov has visited Russia only twice, once in 1930and again in 1959. While on his visit in 1930 he was permitted free travel inside Russia. On his 1959 trip he was confined by the Communist government to the Moscow area and was kept under sttr-veilarice by government agents.He managed to make himself useful, however, by spending several days at the American exhibit at the Moscow Trade Fair where he talked with Russians who visited the exhibit. This kind of activity has earned him the reputation as one of America’s foreign-born “good will ambassadors.”Mrs. Wallace F.
