FOR THE SUFFERERS.Enthusiastic Sleeting In the Circuit court Koent, Last (evening, to ualee Funds for the HuJTerers by the German Flood.According to the announcements made from the various pulpits on Sunday, and through the press, a meeting of the Gernutn citizens was held last evening in the circuit court room for the purpose of effecting an organization for the relief C? the Ger-^*u BUiterers by the flood in the Rhine valley. There was quite an enthusiastic gathering, and at 8 o'clock the meeting was called to order by Mayor Zollinger in the chair. Mr. Henry Leinker was appointed secretary.Some spirited remarks were made by various gentlemen, clearly evincing their love for the dear old fatherland. It was suggested that a concert he given, as Is being successfully done in other cities; but after considerable debate it was finally decided that the most effective way cf reaching the people would be with a subscription list.Messrs. Tresselt, Reese, Schmetzer, Miller and Ritzman were then appointed a general committee, who were to appoint a sub-committee for each ward for the purpose of soliciting subscriptions. The committee retired and a list was opened, giving the more enthusiastic ones an opportunity to subscribe. Fred. Eckert, esq., headed the list with flOO, and in a few moments over $250 had been subscribed.The following is a list of the sub committees for the different wards:First ward—Charles Reese, William Mollering, Henry Monning, Henry Prnge and William Miller.Second ward—John Mohr, Jr., George Strodel, George Schott, C. Hettler, Martin Ferkel and C. Tres selt.Third ward—Frank Falker, A. Wolf, D. Meyer, Andrew Gluting and Emi' Haberkora.Fouth ward—Charles Muhler, William Yergens, August Lankenau, George Ortlelb and Fred Meyers.Fifth ward—John Riedmiller, Peter Pier, Andrew Thiem, Joseph Storm and M. F. Schmetzer.Sixth ward—Gottlieb Epple, Louis
