American Rock Embassy opening is rescheduledThe opening of (he American Rock Embassy, scheduled for Jan. 31 in the old Benld Coliseum, has been postponed.Announcements had said the ballroom would open with the bands Rekker and Tuff Luck. A liquor permit for the place had been approved by the Benld City Council.A sign on the door of the Coliseum reads: “Due to technical difficulty, we’ve moved (he opening to Feb. 7.”Officials said the technical difficulties involved red tape* with liability insurance, and problems with (he physical plant, flooring and plumbing. However, they said the problems are being cleared up. Paperwork with the liability insurance is proceeding and the plumbing is being worked on. As for (heflooring, Dennis Tarro, one of the lessors, said “it’s okay right now. Eventually it will need to be replaced.’’Elizabeth Brase of the Macoupin County Department of Public Health, said “the biggest stumbling block to the opening of the ballroom is that the manager (Darwin Bryant) hasn’t completed the appplication for the license.”She said a preliminary inspection of the building had been made, and a list of things to be corrected before the opening had been sub mitted to the manager. She said “most of the major things’’ on the list had been corrected, but until the application for the license has been completed, the ballroom cannot open.
