The frontage on the lake is 200 feet in length and the building at the narrow part is eighty-one feetwide.On the blue prints now in the office of Building Inspector E. E. Cole the floor plan shows a large area has been reserved for the purpose of dispensing drinks. It is marked “Bar.*’ Ta the west of the bar is the large dancing floor and to the north public and private dining rooms. The latter will be very attractive, ^hey face thelake/ and lattice-work will keerp thediners excluded from the public gaze.A pier is to be built, presumably so excursion boats from Chicago can bring merry-makers to the Indiana Coney Island/' The new amusement placecan easily accommodate 1,000 people.The archtecture is admirable. Thelower part of the building is to have a log cabin effect and the higher walls are to be veneered. A concrete dr^ye leads to the automobile entrance. Atnight the illumination of the structurewill be artistic, it is stated.The dividing line between the new resort and the Hammond park is Sheffield avenue. Those' patronizingthe Hammond. Beach Inr. will no doubt be patrons of the municipal bathhouse. The new bath house built to accommodate Hammond peopla years tocome, will probably be over-t.axe.1 on hot summer Saturdays and Sundays.Murmurs that indicate protest may come from th~* Woman's Christian Temperance Union against the Ham* mond Beach Inn, are heard.
