Stage and Screen Production NotesA musical version of Joe McGinniss’ best-selling book “The Selling of the President,” an account of how Richard Nixon’s image was presented to the public on television during the last presidential campaign, will be staged on Broadway in March.Pat Hingle is set for the role of George W. Mason, the presidential candidate willing to follow the orders of the Madison Avenue media manipulators whose sole interest is in persuading the public to pick their candidate.'*The principals in the show will not sing. Instead, songs will be done by a musical group labeled the American Flag.On the Coast, another offbeat adaptation is planned for the movies. Woody Allen will direct and star in his own version of Dr. David Reuben’s “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask).”Director Andrew L. Driver had been trying to sell it in New York in vain, for years, but finally got it staged in Chicago.It’s been a hit there ever since and productions in New York and Washington are now scheduled.The current Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof” is Jan Peerce, the opera tenor . . . . the Chicago rock and roll musical “Grease” will open in New York on Valentine’s Day * ♦ . Ed Roll, currently in “1776,” will choreograph “Two If by Sea,” the musical about Paul Revere, which opens off-Broadway this month. —NYT
