Sunday’s speakers will include two former pastors of the church and an early day resident and distinguished Methodist layman.Rev. Dale Hasson, pastor of the church during construction of the present buildmg, will preach at the morning worship service on homecoming dnv, SundayDuring the early afternoon, following a covered dish lunch at Kieberger Cafeteria, there will be open house at the new parsonage, 1040 W. Nelson avenue.John D. WheelerJonn Wheeler of San Antonio, widely known Methodist layman and lawyer, will speak at an afternoon service at 2:30. He is a former resident and an earlymember of the church. Duringthe middle teens he was attorney for Aransas Harbor and Terminal Railroad and Aransas Dock and Channel Co.While residing here, Mr. Wheeler and his wife, whose father was a Methodist preacher and superintendent of the Austin District, were both very active in the local church. He was superintendent of the church school and took part in many activities of the church.He is now associated with the law offices of Boyle, Wheeler, Gresham, Davis, and Gregory in San Antonio.His father was the late T. B, Wheeler, former lieutenant governor of Texas and one of the founders of Aransas Pass for whom Wheeler Avenue was named.According to Rev. Arthur Kendall, pastor, a number of special items are planned for the afternoon session.Tne program will include the reading of the church history by R. C. Gordon Birdwell, will preach at the evening service which begins at 7 p. m.Sunday's anniversary observance will be followed by a week-long revival service. Beginning Monday, services will be held each evening at 7 o’clock through Feb. 13. Dr. Lawrence K. Brown of Uvalde will be evangelist for the revival services and Rev. Bill Goodwin of Lake Dallas will be in charge of special music.The church was organized in February, 1891, in a pavillion on the Aransas Pass waterfront. The first church building was where the Clendenmg home now stands at 206 S. McCampbell. The building was remodeled into a residence when the church constructed a new building on the triangle at Harrison and Rife about 191C ; 77^7?^;During its early years, the Methodist Church was among the few here and it was attended by people of many faiths. Its membership included Methodists of ingleside and Port Aransas before churches were built in those towns.Although steady growth of membership made remodeling and enlargement necessary from time to time, the church remained at the triangle location until seven years ago when the present church was built on South Eighth street.Rev.
