INK ABOUT GREASEPAINTBy Alice Alworth“Mrs. Moonlight”The Chamberlain Brown organic tion made an exceedingly good choice in bringing to the Westchester The-atre in Mount Vernon the lovely fantasy, “Mrs. Moon' light.”The author of the play, Ben W. Levy, is at present enjcy' i n g deserved success with his newest plays, “Springtime for H e n r y,” and “The Devil Passes.” Mr. Levy also wrote “Art and Mrs. Bottle.”In “Mrs. Moonlight,” the author writes about a beautiful young woman who expressed a desire never to grow old—in order that she might keep the love of her husband. She wasunaware of the fact that she was wear' ing a necklace with magic properties at the time she made the wish, andthat it was therefore granted. A few years later she realized that she would i never grow physically old. The play begins there and goes on to stir one’s very soul with its poignant beauty and tenderness.Sir Guy Standing, who created the role of the husband will play it in this Chamberlain Brown production. Mur' iel Kirkland will have the Edith Bar'rett role of Mrs. Moonlight.* * *“Private Lives”The feature picture to be shown at the Bronxville Theatre today and to' morrow is a well'done version of the comedy which Noel Coward wrote and played last season. The story is about a couple who were divorced because of their con' stant quarrelling. They both marry again, and oddly enough, go to the same hotel on their honeymoons. They discover each other’s presence, make up their differences and run away to' gether. Then the quarreling begins again, and their new mates find them on the floor of a mountain cabin, tear' ing each other’s eyes out. The picture doesn’t end there, but it might as well, since the rest is devoted to the same kind of kiss'and'make'Up'then'quarrel' again scenes.. The dialogue is spark' ling, and Norma Shearer and Bob Montgomery give performances that are worth seeing..f.
