Garden Theater was built in 1915The old Garden Theater is shown in the 1930’s in thisphotograph from the collection of Dick Carver, Marshall historian.The Fashion Crossroads women’s clothing store now occupies the building, between the J.H. Cronin women’s clothing store andthe Dug Out restaurant.The Garden was built in 1915 by Bill Arthur and sold to W.G. Thick in 1930. His sons Bob and Garth owned the Garden and Bogar theaters for many years.The Garden was sold in 1963 when Bob Thick died. The marquee was removed and interior and front of the building were later remodeledto house a Gamble store.The Bogar was built in 1938and still shows popular movies.Carver said his father, the late Glenn Carver, was a projectionist at the Garden, operating the big, boxy projectors in his youth.Note the movie posters on the small billboard in front ofthe theater.
