At times members would partly contrbute of their own funds for the purchasing of favorite instruments.4For a few years the big six composed the only members of the organization. Then members of the kid band were admitted to its force till more than twenty belonged. Then the organization became the famous 52nd regimental band and performed military service but were mustered outlast April.Richardson was a member of the 52 band but not at the date when the band was mustered out, as his term of service had previously expired and he had failed to re-enlist. The band has been playing ever since as the Algona band with uncertain membership. The spirit of discord was prevalent and two factions appeared The 52 band officers have continued to act in their official capacity viz: A. F. Dailey, president; A. J. Lilly, secretary; G. G, Gar field, treasurer; G. W. Cady, director.Richasdson and his followers ignoring the authority of the officers whom they claim were irregularly holding their positions have called meetings and transacted business of an important nature. On the 24th of' December they met and passed a resolution that the suit against Richardson having been commenced without the authority of the band organization should be dismissed, that the tuba sou Id be the property of Richardson upon the payment of $20 to Daily who it was thought held some claim on the same, and that certain other horns should go to the members who had been playing them.
