When the runaway couple arrived in Pittsburg they registered as mar and wife. Mr. Porter followed and had but little trouble in locating them, but they.had retired for the night and he considerately refused to disturbthem. Next morning when Mr. Porter returned with an, officer Mrs, Porter and her lover had in some way become aware of his presence and left. A little investigation disclosed that they had purchased tickets for Mounds-ville, W. Va., and were registered there as .Rev. William Rose and wife, and Mr. Porter decided not to follow them further and returned home.They remained at Moundsville for a couple of weeks, their small wealth rapidly disappearing into the pockets of the landlord. When the money was gone they were forced to leave their possessions to satisfy bills which they had contracted, and Mrs. Porter again returned to this city.She approached her much-wronged husband and begged forgiveness, andhe once more took her to his home andheart.Again jesterddy noon Mrs. Porter forgot her oft repeated promises and duties as a wife and went to Mounds-vilie via Wheeling, where she will probably join Mr. Rose. Mr. Porter has come in possession of a letter to his wife from Moundsville which fully conyince8 him of her intentions. So far asj her husband knows she had barely enough, money lo pay her car fare and took nothing belonging to him.Mr. Porter i6 an infidel whilehia wife was a regular attendant at the little A. M. E. church on Wellman street, and it was there that Bhe met and, became infatuated with Rose.In an interview with Mr. Pertcr last night he said: “When Bhe left me on two occasions before she took with her some valuable trinkets belonging to me, and it was for the purpose of recovering my loss that I tried to bring her back.”
