; iarCincinnati May Musical Festival.The following announcement in regard to theCincinnati Chorus of the coming May Musical Festival is made by the Chorus Committee:“To the Singers of Cincinnati, Covington, Newportand vicinity:i “The first installment of music to he sung at the , Cincinnati Musical Festival in May next, has been issued to the various musical societies, and they • will at once enter upon its study In their private re-hearsals.“The combined ‘Cincinnati Chorus,’ comprising the v different organizations and Individuals in the city and vicinity, who propose to take part in the festival, will meet for rehearsal on Tuesday, January 7, at College ' Hall, at P. M., on Walnut street, between Fourth and Fifth streets.“The responses to the general invitation already - received from various societies throughout the country give assurance that the coming festival will be a musical event of the most marked and enterprising character, and an occasion of just pride and pleasure to all who participate in its exercises.“The Committees of the Cincinnati Chorus, desiring to enlist the personal co-operation of all who are capable of contributing to its success, through this means extend to the singers of Cincinnati ana vicinity, whether as organized societies, choirs, or indi-( viduals, a cordial and earnest invitation to unite with the chorus in the rehearsals preparatory to this great festival of song. Soprano ami alto voices especially are wanted.“The committee recommends to Individuals that they connect themselves with one or others of the societies already form or being organized, thus securing the advantages of more frequent rehearsals, al-though if preferred they may unite directly with the chorus at large upon application to either of the examining committees.Applications for membership in the several societies represented by the undersigned may be made through them, or through any other active member. Further information and every facility will he furnished \npon application to Dr. C, C. Miller, official agent, r-qom No. 20, Pike’s Opera-house.“The committee respectfully urge the importance of a prompt and hearty response to this invitation.“Members of societies which already form part of the Cincinnati chorus can obtain tickets for the general rehearsal from the respective officers of their societies. “S.
