Greene County Democratic Conven*tion.Pursuant to previous notice, the Democrats of Greene county assembled in convention at the Court House in B oomtield,on Saturday, the 21st day of December, 1861, at 1 o’clock P. M.On motion of the Hon. W. G. Moss, the Hon. Andrew Humphreys was chosen as permanent Chairman of the convention, and on motion, John J. Milam and Hirry Burns were chosen Secretaries.On motion of I)r. E. J. Jackson, a committeeof one from each township represented was appointed by the Cl,air to select delegates to attend the State Convention to be held at Indianapolis on the 8th of January, 1862.On motion of Kon. J. N. Conley, a committee of one from each township represented was appointed by the Ciuir to draft resolutions expressive of the sense of the convention upon the political questions of the day.The committee appointed to draft resolutions by their Chairman, the Hon. J. N. Conley, reported as follows;Mr. President: The committee appointed to draft resolutions expressive of the sense of this convention, beg leave to make the following re port, viz: After deliberation they have agreed to report for consideration the resolutions of the Democratic mass convention of Morgan county, and recommend their adoption.And on motion the report was unanimously approved.The committee appointed to select delegates to attend the State Convention, by their Chairman, Dr. E. J. Jackson, reported as follows:Delegates—W. G. Moss, Andrew' Humphreys. John J. Milam, John D. Killian, E. R. Buckner, and Benoni Blac'cmore, Jr.Contingents—J. M. Humphreys, Joshua Barker, Win, Crawford, Lawson Oliphant, John Dorrough,V. K. Routt, Rice Elgan, Joseph Pig man, James Jackson, Elisha Collins, Henry Sargent, J. O. Button, Abram Spainliower, S. S. Odell, W. S. Bays.Which report, on motion, was concurred in.On motion ol' H. C. Hill, it was Ordered, Tha: the delegates appointed to attend the State Convention be instructed to vote as a unit on all questions.On motion of Hon. J. N. Conley, it was Ordered, That the delegates in attendance at the State Convention be empowered to fill all vacancies which m ty occur in the delegation from this county.On motion, the chair appointed the followingpersons a Central Committee for the ensuing; year, viz.: John M. Humphreys, Chairman; W . P. Stropes, J. N. Conley, John Jones and David Butcher.On motion of J. N. Conlev.it wasf *Ordered, That the proceedings of this meeting be published in the Freedom of the Press and Indiana State Sentinel, and that the Democratic papersof the Seventh Congressional District be requested to copy.After appropriate speeches by Hon.
