CHRISTMAS CANTATA, A MUSICAL TRIUMPHA Most Beautiful Production Splendidly Rendered—Local Talent Wins Favorable CommentnilIt isn't too much to say that tlie cantata given Sunday '-night by local talent at the Friends church under the direction of Mrs. Leonard Wines more than lived up to the advance notices given it. Much was expected of it, but we believe it more than fulfilled expectations. At any rate a large audience greeted the robed singers and for a brief hour and a quarter the people enjoyed a feast of music the like ol which had not been equaled for many years. It was a treat and the director and her company are entitled to all the compliments showered on them.Give us more of such entertainments. According to our . humble opinion, the community . is hungering for it and the days of the old- time lyceum and ebau-tauqua programs would seem mighty good. But back to the cantata, That Song ol Old,” which is based upon the Christmas carol, “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. There ;was melody all through the piece,. the kind we enjoy, and the solos and choruses kept lovers of good music surfeited with satisfying morsels. The audience liked what was fed to them and showed their appreciation plainly.SOPRANO'■Esther :(Mah!e)-Paul-TjoraTCeenHazel Mabie, Avis Kinney, Betty Long, Shirley Overstake, Lillian Mahle.ALTOGladys -Outland, Duva Baumgardner, Myrna Johnson, Faye Long, Elnora Dillman.TENORLeonard Wines, Robert Johnson, Everett Dunham, Clinton Perisho.BASSBeryl Keen, Donald Beane, Charles Beane, Harlan Latham, John Perisho/ Raymond Rhodes.DIRECTOR 'Mrs. Edith Wines11hrih(II1]flt;ACCOMPANISTMrs. Ursula Johnson
