ELECTRIC HEADLIOrH TEST.Chicago, Dec, 2 8.—Practical testa of the operation of electric headlights on fhelt; Chicago Eastern Hi-nois railroad wore made last night by Prank Payne, of the railroad commission, and Charles Miller, an attorney for the corn miss ion, who rode on an engine equipped with such a Pght from, Torre Plante to Chicago. The commission is defendant in an action brought by railroad companies of the state to prevent their being compelled to Install such lights on their phssenger locomotives, and thetrip was made for the purpose of collecting evidence.All the members of the commission met in Chicago today for various purposes. Mr, Payne in connection with the headlight question, and J. F, McClure and W. J. Wood, the other member, in connection with tariff adjustments.The case of French brothers, of Brookston, against the Monon Rail-j road company to compel a reduce ion | in rates 'on brick from Cnawfordsviile to Brookston, which was set for hear-[ ing before the commission today, was postponed until tomorrow.
