have left the section rather barren in regards to sports news as both local basketball clubs have taken a rest from their schedules and nobody has had ithe ambition to clean off the skating rink as yet. But one place which is popping with activity in regards to the athletic line is our city to the south, Sioux City. Here are a few of the things that Promoter Tommy O'JLoughlin has lined up for the new Municipal Auditorium in that town.First of all, there will be a boxing match on the 3rd of January which is billed as “the greatest fistic classic ever staged in this section of the country. The two pugilists who will touch gloves on that date are, of course. Nelson Levering, the Macy Nebraska welter and Harold Alle, a road kid out of Minneapolis. In the last bout. Levering won a disputed decision over the Minnesotan and following the match, there was a short but decisive match between the two at the pay gate. Alle was an undisputed winner in that encounter. The famous Iowa referee, Alex Fidler, has been signed to work this bout.Then on the -twelfth of January, the Harlem Globe Trotters, the most colorful basketball team in the borld, will be the featured attraction at the Auditorium. Their opponents! will be another Negro Cage team, the Philadelphia Sphas. The Trotters have such featured stars as Marquis Haines, who is said to be able to dribble rings around the best professional stars in tne country and Goose Tatum, who’s arm spread is often compared to the wing span of a B-36.O’Lounghlin has brought fame to Sioux City with his various promotional talents. The Sioux City hockey SuHawks are a product of his bountiful imagination and he has brought such stars as the Globe Trotters, the Minneapolis Lakers and countless non-athletic stars such as Joan Davis, the Metropolitan, Opera, Skating Vanities and Margaret Truman, to the Auditorium.Short Slants: With profound regret we read of the death of Michael (Lefty) Eisenmenger, an athlete of Immaculate C. • ception High of Cherokee, who died las. wek of polio. Lefty was a fine sportsman and we remember him as being very active in Boy Scout acuvhu..,. R. I. P. Ray Lemek of HeeJen High in Sioux City is really going to town against those Sioux City teams. Ray didn’t look too effective in the scrimmage the Heelanites had vs. S. M. A. but. perhaps he performs the best when the pressure is on.•fSIOUX 4-H | CLUB NEWS I ‘t* *fThe regular meeting ol the Pato Pluggers 4-H club was held at the home of Roy and James Jacobsen on December 18, 1951. Sydney Grossenberg presided over the meeting. Sixteen members answered roll call. Glen Sandbulte and Lawrence Dorhout became new members at this meeting.Christmas songs were sung and games were played at the close of the meeting. Gifts were also exchanged in accordance with ithe Christmas party. Mrs. Jacobsen served a lunch after the exchange.Holland WindmillsThe Holland Windmills of Orange City met at the home of John Hartog on December 17, 1951. The meeting was called to order at 7:30. A short meeting was held and we had a Christmas party. We sang Christmas carols and played a few games. Then lunch was served after that we played basketball.
