PERSONAL AND SOCIAL GOSSIPPoints About People Who Come and Go—Reception Notes.At five o’clock last evening the C. L. S. C. met at the home of Mrs. C. A. Harper, 223 South Sixth street in social session. Promptly at six o’clock the ladies were ushered into rhe dining room where a most elaborate spread was served by Miss Florence Harper. During the repast Miss Nellie Albright, as toastmaster, made a short address in keeping with the occasion.Miss Mary Parfitt responded wTith a toast to “The C. L. S. C,” in which she treated upon the origin of the society of Bishop Vincent twenty five years ago, and its object.Miss Mary McYitty in a most pleasing talk responded to a toast on ‘ ‘ Our Ninteenth Cencury Club” in which she reviewed its liistorv in an interest-ing manner.Mrs. C. A. Harper, the hostess, in a toast to 4 The New Woman in Liter ary Circles rendered an ingeniously woven discourse as to the prevailing ideas of the new woman and the vigor with which she is taking up literary study in circles.The home throughout was profusely decorated in holly and evergreen while the dining room was attractively arranged in primroses. There were covers for ten, and at each plate the guest found a unique favor in the form of leaves of holly. The evening was devoted to social enjoyment. The coming meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. E. A. Dausinan on Sixth street, next Monday evening.Mrs. I. P. Hummel is quite sick.Calvin Gardner returned to Chicago.
