Quartet wins ' region band competitionPOCONO SUMMIT — A local quartet was judged second best of 14 competing modem-sound bands Sunday at the American Theater of Pitlston.“The Liquor Control Board” is made up of Curt Boyer, guitar and arranger; Bart Boltz, bass; Jack Boyer, drums and John Planchock of Pocono Summit, organ. All are from Pocono Mountain area.Prize for second place was $200. A group called “Turquoise Cherry” won first prize. •Competing bands had nine minutes each to impress judges. ’LCB” selections were “Summertime0 and “The Iron Butterfly1’ theme.Six disc jockeys from northeastern Pennsylvania were judges.Purpose of Ihe competitions — 0/ which there have been five — is to encourage modem bands In the northeast part of the state.
