STACK FELLLight Circuit in Upper Part of Town Also Damaged —Loss ViU Be LargeFord City, Dec. 21—High wind sweeping over ford. City yesterday shortly before 12 o’clock blew down' the smoke stack on the -plant of the Eiger Potter}'. The wind snapped off the stack about 10 feet above the roof of the boiler house and the 'upper part’ of. the' stack crashed downward. It struck the roof, of the boiler house and jammed its way down through the roof and into'- the wall between the boiler room and the meter room of the plant.In its passage it tore loose the heavy cables carrying, electric power into the Eiger plant. The big meters were also torn loose and the debris covered the boiler room. Fortunately there was no one in the room, at the time of the accident so that none were injured. Had there been persons in the path of the falling stack they would have been killed or badly injured.The ripping out of the electric cables leading from the power house of the Ford City Electric Company created a short circuit that shut oft the lights in the upper portion of the city.Workmen of the power company were soon on the job and they had the lights burning once more in the upper portion of the town in about20 minutes.The damage done will amount to several hundreds of dollars in the Eiger plant and to the electrical equipment.Diu'ing the time-that the stack fell the wind was blowing with terrific force and several trees about the town were damaged and several radio aerials torn down.
