GIRLS CHOSENTO LEAD SONGSAT LEWIS HIGHAppointments Necessary Because of Growth Of MembershipSince the Lewis school Pep -club has been increased so as to include ail the girls from the tenth grades it has become necessary to choose more song leaders. Three girls have been selected from each tenth grade in addition to the three chosen from the entire group. j The leaders chosen from room 308 were Mary Yeaman, Diana Pullum', and Velda Holmes; from room 306, Virginia Norton, Ila Call, and Emma Jean Mathews; room 203, Bernice Lindgren, Dona Fronk, and Lee Dunham; room 302, Madeline Watkins, Yvonne Malcolm,and Shirley Rac Coley; room 201, Beverly McClellan, Shirley, and Rhea Olsen, —Ila Call.Elementary ProgramOn Friday morning in the Lewis auditorium, the fifth and sixth grades at Lewis presented a program for the entire elementary platoon. Some of the students related the legends concerning theorigin of Christmas and the customs that existed in the foreign countries before the war. They also sang the carols from each of these countries. The second, third, and fourth grade children joined them in the singing of carols.' From twelve until one o'clockeach elementary class had a party in its home room. Games, programs and luncheons were* enjoyed.—Colleen White.Quizzing Quill Reporter How are you planning to spend the Christmas holidays this year? That was the question asked several teachers and students by the quizzing quill reporters. (The reporter hopes he doesn’t get too many of the wild animals, that is if he intends to eat all of them.)Shirley Hurst: “Relax, and enjoy the holidays.”Findley. Gridley: “Wait up for Santa Claus.” (The reporter hopes that Santa really comes when he is supposed to so that Findley'can get rested before he returns to school.)Peggy Howk: “I hope to be trying out a new pair of skates.”Miss Thomas: “X expect to spend the Christmas holidays in Logan.” Mr. Barton: “I will probably stay at home and do the housework, because my wife is working.”Miss Stevens: “I’m going to stay at home and rest.”Donna Roach: “I expect to spend most of my time working in a store* that is when I am not skating.”Wayne Hart: ‘T am going to work In my father’s grocery store.” Darrell Robinette: ‘T am going to work at the Railway Express sorting, packing, and loading letters and packages for mailing on the trains.Bill Snow: *‘I am going to workat th« supply depot during my vacation.”Befor* signing off we wish you all a very Merry Christmas—Noma Manning and Beverly Hunter.Personalities In Review The council members selected at | the beginning of the school year represent the different classes at: all student body council meetings., From class 305B, Lloyd Stoddard was elected after a close vote. He has done a great deal of traveling and enjoys seeing parks and canyons. His greatest enjoyment has come from seeing the geysers and boiling pots in Yellowstone national paxk. Lloyd likes basketball and football. *LeRoy McFarland is the representative from room 301. LeRoy is a. blond who likes sports and literature. He especially likes dog stories by O’Brien -and London, and anything written by Mark Twain. As for sports, he likes football, basketball, ■ and baseball, but he particularly likes basketball; Not so long ago LeRoy took a fishing trip to Montana and he says he had fun. I wonder why? Could it have been that the fish were biting exceptionally well, while he was. there?Joyce Herrick, class representative from room 205, is a small girl with short dark hair and twinkling brown eyes. Joyce, like most other girls, would rather dance than do anything else. Next to dancing she likes to skate, either ice skating or roller skating. She likes her history teacher so well, that history - is her favorite subject. Because she enjoys Louisa May Allcoti’s books, she has read everything that Miss' Allcott has written. “Eight Cousins” is her favorite. When Joyce has nothing to do at home, she listens to the radio.Mona Lee Henderson, who represents the class from 304, is a new girl at Lewis. She came to Ogdenfrom. Fargo, North Dakota, and although she likes it here, she thinks she would like to go back to Fargo to live again. Mona is a girl who loves mysteries. She likes radio programs which give her thrills, such as “The Green Hornet” and “Mr. District Attorney.” This pretty dark-haired, girl has the ambition in her life' to become -a. teacher.-She loves children, especially email ones—Lee' Dunham and Carol Scof-field.
