He pub lishes a collection of his beautiful poems entitled “Modern Poems” which has sold extensively. The work has been highly praised by the press and public. It deserves a place in every home. His poems are of a florid nature exhaling the odors of May. He has received the highest encomiums from the press where he has given entertainments of his own songs and poems.He has a great number of testimonials of which the following are a few:The poetical entertainment given last night by Edward D, Wright, the Hoosier poet at Young’s Hall proves the poet a genius. It was a grand treat. Some ofhis pieces were very laughable while others that were of a solemn tendency would call forth the deepest sympathy.” The foregoing is from the Golconda, 111.. Herald-Enterprise of Aug. 7th, 1S90. The paper continues to the extent of a column and ends with: “His entertainment frombeginning to end was both interesting aud instructive and prove him worthy of the title he bears, Indiana can beju6tly proud of such a poet.”The Elizabethtown, 111., Independent says:Edward Danville Wright, the Hoosier poet and humorist, gave a poetical entertainment at the court house Saturday night. His poems as rendered on this occasion alternated between the sad and humorous, as the changing countenance ofhis hearers bore convincing testimony. Mr, Wright is no exception to the rule that poets are born poets, but unlike a majority of those who court the muse he is equally good whether appealing to the sympathetic chord or tapping the fountain of laughter.The Metropolis, 111., Journal says:The entertainment of original songs and declamations by the hoosier poet and humorist, E. D, Wright, at Poor 6c Simmons’ hall last Thursday night was of the highest order, as the pathetic, satiric, temperance and comic, all fit in full measure to their sphere.
