According to Royal Nold, Senior Citizens finance committee chairman, the money for the new facility has been borrowed, and a fund drive was launched this week to raise $300,000 to cover the loan plus the cost of renovation.This is not just for the senior citizens — it will also serve as acommunity facility, Nold said In an Interview Tuesday. Plans call for three dining rooms which, when used together, will seat more than 300 people.In a brochure mailed to all Algona residents Monday, the 7,300-square-foot building Is described as the Algona Community/Senior Center. When renovations are completed, It can serve as a site for town meetings, wedding receptions and club meetings, Nold said, for a fee which would coverJust the cost of heat, electrlcty and custodial services. We are a nonprofit organization, he added.Nold said the fund drive will beconducted over a three-year period.
