APPRECIATION DINNERCommissioners, Representatives Honored By Citizens of MeigsA representative group of Meigs citizens, headed by Mayor F. C. Pittman, was host Tuesday night at a steak supper in Thomasville at the Plaza Cafe, in what was termed an Appreciation Dinner, honoring members of the Thomas County Board of Commissioners and Representatives R, E. Chastain and 0. S. Willis.O, H. Lewis, cashier of the Bankof Meigs and civic leader, wasmaster of ceremonies. Following the invocation by W. H. Rehberg and the dinner, G. B. Isler was called upon by Mr. Lewis to address the gathering, explaining the purpose. This Mr. Isler did in a short but effective talk in which he expressed on behalf of the citizens of Meigs sincere appreciation for the road improvement program carried out in that community during recent months. The paving of streets and roads in and about Meigs has been done effectively and is an improvement of at value to the community, e stated.Mr. Isler commended tfie County Commissioners and Representatives Chastain and Willis for their cooperative efforts, in making available county and state aid for this provement program. He com-nted * upon and commended County fengineer W. H. Thames and County Warden Neil William-ton for the efficient manner inwhich they had carried out the minute details of the work.Mr. Isler paid especial tribute to the untiring efforts of J. Lee White Commissioner from the Meigs District, for his patience yet persistent effort to have this badly needed program carried out. ^Commissioner White, responding,) modestly disclaimed credit for thej work, thanked the Commissioners and Representatives for considerations shown his section and pledged himself to renewed efforts to see that all sections of Thomas county get needed paving and road improvements.Dr. John A. Hartsfield, Mayor Pittman, Jimmy Raiford, Jr., rep-j resenting the Meigs Kiwanis Club and others from that city expressed their appreciation for the paving work, and endorsed heartily the statements of Mr. Isler. !Representatives , Chastain aqd! Willis .and” members of the Board! of County Commissioners, all. of whom were present, thanked thecitizens of Meigs for this appreciation meeting and their expressions of friendship and evidences of continuing interest in all matters looking to the development of Thomas County.Supt. W. H. Rehberg, of the County School Board and a former resident of Meigs, Lee E. Kelly, of the Times-Enterprise and others were called upon during the evening for short talks.The meeting was characterized by a fine spirt of appreciation for the work being done by the Commissioners. and Representatives in behalf of the county, and much credit was given to the present state administration for the great amount of paving work done over the county during the past 18 months.Present for the gathering were O.
