South Side's tree lightingIf you blinked, you may have missed it.The South Side Tree Lighting ceremony was fast and started right on lime. Those who arrived a few minutes after the 6 p.m. start, missed ihe lighting. The tree sits in front of Beauchamp Branch Library, 2111 5. Salina St.After the ceremony, the crowd moved across the street to the KeyRank parking lot for doughnuts and hot chocolate and holiday carols performed by the Southside Performing Arts Unit.Appreciation awards for 11 people in the community were given out and the winner of the Charles Dozier III memorial scholarship was recognized.Organizer Shirley Rowser,wearing a Santa hat. said “It’s going great.'
