Farmland Industries Holds 40th. Annual MeetingCHORALIERS HERE SUNDAYA Christmas concert will be presented Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m., in the United Methodist Church, sponsored by the senior MYF. Tickets will be sold at the door.The Choraliers will also present a concert in Laurens Saturday evening.CHURCH WOMEN HAVE MEETINGThe December meeting of the Lutheran Church Women was held in Grace Lutheran Church parlors Wednesday evening, Dec. 4, with Mrs. Eldon Erickson presiding.The program opened with a devotional reading by Mrs. James Neary about celebrating Christmas by putting Christ first. A Christmas playlet featuring Mrs. Cliff Burns as grandmother and Mrs. Bob Josephson, Danny and Linda, was given, the children placing the figures in the Nativity scene. Carols were sung at intervals. A responsive Christmas prayer closed the meeting.The hostesses, Mrs. Charles Agler, Mrs. Verlin Fredricks and Mrs. Chris Laur* itsen, served lunch with a Christmas motif.FIREMEN HOST OYSTER DINNERThe Marathon firemen were hosts at an oyster dinner at the Town Hall last Thursday evening for firemen and their wives.Following the meal, a social time was enjoyed playing bingo. There were ten members and their wives present.NEW ARRIVALSA three - week - old son, whom they have named Gary Dale, their first child, arrived at the home of his adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Williams, in Cherokee, Dec. 6. The baby was born Nov. 12 and weighed 6 lbs., 12 oz. Mrs.About 10,000 persons attended the 40th annual meeting of Farmland Industries in Kansas City Dec. 4-6.Highlights included the annual report of Ernest T. Lindsey, president. He reported volume in the fiscal year ended Aug. 31 reached a record $390.6 million, with savings of about $16.7 million. About half of the savings were refunded in cash at the meeting to membercooperatives on the basis of patronage in the past year.Entertainment featured a Thursday night performance by the Osmond Brothers, who rose to fame after appearance on the Andy Williams television show.Those from the area representing the local Farmers Cooperative Association, included Mr. and Mrs. Jack Krebs, Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Fredricks, Mr. and Mrs. Verlyn Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Walker E.
