Starting to move up the charts this week is a record which comes to us from the bug factories of Great Britain. A group known as The Beatles this weekmake their appearance with their big ..ound recording called She Loves You. The label is Capitol and the record, well, you be the judge.RCA Victor’s singing sensation Little Peggy March is back with another big solo effort. This one called The Impossible Happened has a good fast beat, but that’s as far as it goes. I make no predictions on this one.Well it's been a long time, but Paul Anka, former Ottawa lad and now married, is back with not otil\ a new record but a new label as well as his new bride. Recording now for RCA (again) Paul's comeback record is called Did You Have A Happv Birthday. It might take oil andthen again it might not.Philips Records have a new record called Dominique recorded b\ The Singing Nun. I will go all out on this one, and predict it to become number I on the hit parade and if bv some strange remote chance it doesn’t,tim of this vicious disease my I self, believe I have found a curt(1) St'av indoors as much a possible during the week and 01 the weekend.(2) Eat good meals every day especially a good hearty break fast each morning.(3) Get lots of sleep, as mucl jas you possibly can. The answer is emplaticallv yes and there are many good reasons whv.Unfortunately the problem ofteenage night life is an eternal one, made more acute each day bv the fact that all too manv parents become lax to the pointwhere they nelgect prudent direction ol their teenage son or daughter.Another problem is the fact that teenagers today show a great deal ol resentment when it comes to taking orders from others, even their own parents. When should teenagers be(homo, and why?No teenaged bo or girl undei lb should be permitted to attend am social activities outside ol the home on any school night. . . that is, social activities such as parties, movies, dances andsuch, unless such activities are eithei school or church affairs and even here there should be some restriction as to how often a id lbi how long. Young people under 16 should NOT be outon the streets (or elsewhere, for that matter) on am school night.Now this might seem a little r ugh from the teenagers' point o' view, however let us lacefacts.(a) Teenagers should be aware o' the importance ol obedience to those who have authority over them, especially in this call, their y i cuts. For this reason alone there should be no question ol argument on the part ol the teenager.(b) Young teenagers and even the oldet ones who are permitted to roam the streets, pool rooms and shows until all hours on a school night, are teenagers lor whom the dangers are manv, troubles assured anil bad school grades inevitable.One point to remember is this-juvcnilc delinquency thrives on the young teenager whose nightlile s his own and goes unrestricted.What about weekends? Well, in my opinion the weekend belongs to the teenager; that is, under a lew simple rules made quite clear In the parent to the teenager.Complete freedom should be given the teenager as long as: a) You know exacth where the teenager will be and onl\ after the parent has given hisor her consent.(b) You know with whom youi teenage son or daughter isassociating.(c) You don’t ask when they expect to come home, tell them when vou want them home, andI!I will buy 100 copies of it and send one to each of mv friends ior Christmas.Others worth watching for this i coming week are: Coming InThe Back Door, by Baja Marimba Band; Outer Limits by The Marketts; Big Town Bov bv Loreen Church; and a new Christmas single by the Beach Bovs, the name ol which 1 can’t say.Germ Hits MiltonThere seems to be some concern at presen’t over an epidemic disease which has just recently hit the Milton and district area. Commonlv known as ETJ this particular disease is nothing to really gel alarmed about, however one should not regard ETJ as a mere mild medical mystery.You ma\ wonder a little be-%cause 1 refer to this malady%as a medical mystery, but youW?' vsee the truth is this, nobody in the whole field of medical science, has as vet been able toproduce an effective cure, either liquid or solid.The funny thing about ETJ is the fact that this sickness or fever, is prominent only among ' persons between six and 21 years ol age. Now strange as this may seem, it’s quite true.never read it anyway.He went on to inform me that I w'as wasting my time when I could be writing other things ol interest to adults.Now I know I am bv no mean:10a first class columnist, in fact far from it, but in reply I saythis:II I am wasting my time writ ing topics ol interest to teen agers, then I couldn’t think ola better wav for me to (as%this gentleman put it) waste my time. I enjoy writing for teen agers and as long as this papei continues to print my column, I will continue to write it.If all adults looked upon teenagers in the same manner in which this man does, then this world would be a sorry place ti; live in.By rhc way, I just happened to ask him il he had ever read my column. I suppose it lakesall kinds, doesn’t it?* * *Fence posts can be made to last from 10 to 30 years, depending on the type of treatment they are given and the species used.
