I sSmtoks and proprietors.MADISON, TUESDAY:::DECEMBER 11, 1849.Tea Parties.—-Following the praiseworthy ex-ample pf the ladies of the First Presbyterian church* the ladies of the Baptist church give a tea-party for the benefit of their church on Christmas eve, and the ladies of the Second Presbyterian church give a sira-'iiir entertainment for a like object on the eveningofthe 20th.These parties* that are gotten up exclusively by the ladies, who are ever foremost in enterprises of tbia description and always ready to lend their aid in any benevolent cause, will afford a most excellent opportunity for the young, the middle-aged, and the old* of both sexes, to meet and while away pleasantly and innocently a few hours more profitably and agreeably than could be done anywhere else. In holiday times the young and buoyant of life very naturally cast about them for aome kind of conventional meeting that will draw together their acquaintances and friends, where, In grateful joyousness and mirth, they may relate aod rehearse the events of the past year.
