Ex-Springs conductor on way to WashingtonBy Gil Asakawa/Entertainment EditorMr. Ansbacher is going to Washington.Charles Ansbacher, who conducted the Colorado Springs Orchestra for 20 years, from 1968 to 1988, has accepted an offer to join President-elect Bill Clinton and Vice President-elect A1 Gore’s transition team as senior adviser to an education/labor/arts and humanities cluster group.The cluster groups will study federal agencies, then brief the new administration on them. Nine groups will cover such subjects as economics and international trade, transportation (under the coordination of former Denver Mayor Federico Pena) and natural resources. Group members will work as unpaid volunteers, and groups will disband after the inauguration.Ansbacher plans to return to the presidency of Denver’s New World Airport Commission, which is organizing the celebration to mark the opening of Denver International Airport.Ansbacher has extensive experience in arts administration, including chairing the Colorado Council on the Arts and Humanities and serving as executive director of the Foundation for the Denver Performing Arts Complex. His duties there included overseeing the opening of the Temple Hoyne Buell Theater. He also is conductor laureate of the Colorado Springs Symphony, a board member of the Colorado Symphony and a trustee of the National Symphony Orchestra.Ansbacher: Joining arts and humanities cluster group.
