The turnip, which weighed 6 12Brnnds (with greens) , is the largest Mrs. avis has produced in the 40 years she has been growing turnip greens. The turnip, whose size is contrasted with a mediumsize and regular size turnips, wasn’t given any special care in reaching the “super size” category. In fact, said Mrs. Davis, it grew on an end of her garden that wasn’t even watered during the recent dry spell. (TIMES photo by Wayne King)
