Farmland Manager Attends ConventionMr. and Mrs. David R. Wright of Muscatine were in Kansas City, Mo., Dec. 3* 4, 5, and 6 to attend the 40th annual meeting of Farmland Industries. Wright -is the manager of the local Farmland Industries commercial fertilizer warehouse.The meeting was attended by Co-op outpoint managers, board members, and wives from 26 states and Canada. The registration was 11,753 people compared to 11,200 last year. The major reason for the increase was the company- purchase in 1968 of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Service Co. and the Southern Farm Supply. Co. of Texas. Sales for the fiscal year just ended were 390.7 million dollars with a net savings of 16.7 million dollars. Sales at the Muscatine warehouse exceeded 3 million dollars for the second straight year.Keynote speaker for the convention was Howard K. Smith of ABC news. Entertainment for the ladies was provided by Miss America of 1968, Miss . Debbie Barnes of Kansas, and the singing Osmond Brothers currentlybeing featured on the Jerry Lewis Show. Also included were tours of the Farmland Industries paint plant, battery plant, grease plant, feed mill, printing plant, terminal warehouse, demonstration farm and main office headquarters, all located in or near Kansas City.
