Forest Hill. Her former captain, Lt. Cdr. Ernie Usher Jones, R.C.N.V.R., now serving in Montreal, wrote Disney early this year asking if he could do a crest “with a beavergnawing on a very distressed U-boat.”Disney wrote a friendly reply, acceding to the request but warning that there were 300 similar pleas from fighting units ahead of them. Jones wired back: “We’ll wait—out please, please hurry.”Soon the insignia came back, and it was just what the ship wanted—a cheery little beaver chewing the dickens out of a submarine’s tail.
