Mrs. Rogers works from seven in the morning until three in the j afternoon at which time Mrs. Padgham begins her shift and works until eleven at night. Mrs. Giles gets the night shift from eleven until seven in the morning.The Day’s WorkThe baby, as soon as it arrives in the world, is wrapped in a sterile sheet by the surfeical nurse. The eyes are treated before the baby leaves the delivery room, and the identification bracelet of beads are placed on it in the delivery room. The baby is then taken to the dressing room in the nursery where it is cleaned, weighed and dressed, then is shown to both the father and the mother in herroom.The baby is placed in its assigned crib on the right side with the foot of the crib elevated. This is done to leave the heart free for action and to cause the mucus to run out of the baby’s throat and mouth. Often a bulb syringe must be used to remove the mucus.
