Mrs. Padgham did her training in Wisconsin and went right into regular hospital work and eventually into special duty. She had been living in Falfurrias with her husband on a citrus farm. As she explains, “When he died four years ago, I tried to go right ahead with the citrus grove, but I felt like a j chip washed up on the beach. A friend of mine had a daughter working at the Kleberg hospital, and she suggested T see if Mrs.' Davis could use me. I feel now like I belong in the nursery looking after the babies.”“And she is very wonderful with them, too.” Mrs. Rogers assured. “I did my training at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. I did hospital floor duty. Later I went to work for Dr. Jack McLean of Ft. Worth who is a very fine doctor.Mrs. Ada Giles did her training j in Minneapolis and started from j the very beginning to work with babies. “I just drifted in to Kingsville and came in and applied with j Mrs. Davis. She said she might use me if they needed three shifts. So I went to work when she added | the third shift.”
