Coonskin Gets Memorial ParkSeveral hundred acres of land adjoining the Kanawha county airport on Coonskin ridge have been set aside by the county court for the establishment of a Memorial Park to honor those who have lost their lives in World War I and II and previous conflicts, Mont Cavundor, court president., announced Saturday.The action, which was endorsed by John Brawley post No. 20, American Legion, was taken by the court at a meeting Saturday,Mr. Cavender, along with Commissioners Carl Calvert and J. G. Carper, issued a statement whichsaid that the coupty court, “believing that a living, growing me-morial would more fittingly express the Wishes of our honored dead, does hereby obligate itself to establish, develop and maintain a park consisting of several hundred acres of land, lying adjacent to the Kanawha county airport; and the county court expresses the hope that with the passage of time such a pork will become increasingly beautiful and a useful recreation ground and a fitting token of gratitude of our people; and something that will contribute to the happiness and welfare of our citizenship/*With these ideas in mind the county court respectfully dedicates as a Memorial Park the lands mentioned and expresses the hope that .succeeding county courts will add to the size and usefulness of this ^Memorial park.The court further ordered that ; plans be considered and that appropriate action be taken so that, as soon as Kanawha airport is completed, the park may be developed and made available for public use.fn Vipw
