Judging from the reports that were made at the Carnival of Nations meeting yesterday afternoon at the Burnet House, the bazaar is progressing on a tremendous scale. More than $2,000 will have already been realized before the doors are open the first night, and the promises are that the net proceeds will be at least $5,000. The Chairmen of all the booths in the city, from Tusculum to Price Hill, made reports yesterday wiiich were unanimously encouraging.There will be a hot supper served Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights of the week, ana all sorts of entertainments are being prepared for the amusement of the evening guests, A large space near the front of the hall will be devoted to a Punch and Judy show for the children.Each booth is vielng with its neighbor in an endeavor h) present something unique to lure the coin of the realm from the pocket of the visitor. One booth is to have living statues posed for by society young men and women: another will show the public what a silhouette wake is; there will be a correctly decorated Persian room, a Mecca for the smokers; the Kindergarten booth will have a print and picture sale; there is to be a gorgeously beautiful flower booth, and perlfaps the most exciting attraction in a bazaar of this kind will be the disposition of a piece of beautiful tapestry to the most popular woman in Cincinnati, her popularity, of course, being represented by the number of small coins her friends shall deposjt as the expression of their opinions.Aitogeth'**- the Carnival of Nations willbe a great event in social circles, for all society is interested in It, and rivalry runs high.-lt;o)-The December meeting of the Cincinnati Chapter, D. A. R., will bo held Monday, December 5. The program will be devoted to the history and aims of the various patriotic societies. Mrs. Thomas *H. Norton wrill read a paper on The Colonial Societies, Mrs. A. Howard Iiinkle will talk of The Revolutionary Societies, and Mrs. W. B. Melish will discuss The Societies,of the Civil War.The election of delegates to the National Congress, D. A. R.. at Washington will not occur until the January meeting.—(o)—Mrs. Cornelia Ei James, Superintendent of the Normal Kindergarten Training School, will give a reception Monday evening, December 5, to meet her daughter, Miss Margaret James, who has Just come from Utica, N. Y.—(o)—Mrs. Bethel's clases in parliamentary law are constantly growing in interest. Yesterday’s lesson was on committees, how appointed, temporary and permanent Chairmen, duties of each, minority report, etc., all pertaining to committees and their work. Today’s lesson, which is tho last of the series of five, will be on election of officers, different methods, etc., besides a general review of the week’s work.
