Pentagon Assistant Urban League SpeakerThe Air Force’s Special Assistant for Social Actions at the Pentagon, Brig. Gen. Lucius Theus, will address the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s banquet Thursday,The banquet is an annual affair and is being held this year at the First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Ave. starting at 6 45 p.m. An NAACP spokesman said the Air Force theme is in commemoration of the Air Force’s 25th Anniversary this year and he leadership role the Air Force has played in the equal employment opportunity and mman relations fields.Gen Theus is the third black general to ever be appointed in he Air Force The 49-year- old general heads the Air Force-Grace Rita DillonRosarv Set Sundaywide Social Actions Program which includes equal opportunity and treatment of personnel, race relations, drug and alcohol abuse control and domestic actions. He is a former enlisted man who graduated as the honor student in his Air War College class and earned his masters degree at George Washington University.He served with Lt Gen. Benjamin 0. Davis Jr., and Maj.'1 Gen Daniel (Chappie) James 1 when all three were members of a segregated Air Force unit 1 in the 1940s. 1The general chaired an inter- ( service task force on FJducation 1 in Race Relations in 1970 and : was involved in the formulation of the Defense Department edu- ! cation program in race relations.
