Clint Walker:strong, quiet outdoors copLOS ANGELES — So there he is, all of him: Clint Walker. 6-foot-fi, 235 pounds and he says he's not really so big — there's 6 foot-7 Jim Arness.Now, that’s tall. says Clint.Being tall, too, is better than being short.Some people say that being big attracts trouble. I don’t think so. I used to be a bouncer and 1 was very much in demand and made good money, and one of the reasons was that a big man has less trouble. The other guy may think twice. he said.On the other hand, most of his problems came from the little bitty fellows — and you can never win with them. If you whip ’em you're a bully and if you lose you’re a coward. • . • ; .Clint Walker, 47, for eight years the star of Cheyenne on .ABC, has come hack to the network after 10 years, and a lot of movies in between, to star in a new ABC show, Kodiak, about an outdoorsman. strong, silent cop in Alaska.ABC decided Clint Walker still had a lot of fans out; there and he should be doing a .series, Walker told interviewers. The question was what kind? Well, we saw all those people who Jam the freeways on Friday night, bumper to bumper in campers and trailers, all trying to get away from the rat race, trying to get out there and see sonic grecn, same, mountain streams and blue skies.So that’s what we’re going to try to bring them.Walker has starred in five 90 minute movies for ABC the last three years ('’Yuma, Hardcase,Clint Walker returns after a decade.The Bounty Man, Scream Of Tim Wolf, and Killdo/er), and all of them did well.I believe in action movies. I don't like a lot of words. I think a picture is much more interesting if it tells the story by action, more interesting than a lot of yak, he said. .An action man himself. Walker was nearly killed a few years ago when he went head over heels on skis and landed on a ski pole, which punctured his heart.They sewed him up and he was back at work bn a picture in Spain with Telly Savalas in two months. The doctors said they couldn’t figure out how he ever lived.I bent the pole to a right angle, that’s how hard I hit. Bui I’m fine. I can do anything. Except the doctors . tell me I'm not supposed to stick any more poles in my chest, he said. .• His big, brawny chest helped him star in Ids first movie a little while, back. 'The Bowery Boys Go To Africa. in which he played Tarran.They were taking Jane back to New York with them. So I came out of the jungle beating on rhy chest and yelling. I think one of my lines — it was my first speaking part — was 'Jane Stay,’ Walker recalled.
