o. NO 35Hankinson Family Reunion.On Wednesday, August 22, the Hankinson family assembled in reunion at the home of Simeon Hankin-oson on the Welsh Hills. 'This family is rtrairkable in two ways: first, in the fact that ttfere are nine brothers and one sister, the brothers each being 6 teet or more inrand second, IrTtha t four of the~■ • • r —^ •••%-■ —brothers served their country in the War of the Rebellion.*The brothers who served in the War were the four oldest, Samuel, William, George and Joseph. Samuel, George and Joseph served under Sherman, the latter two accompaning the army on the March to the Sea. Joseph was captured and was a prisoner of war at Andersonville. William served under General Thomas, “The Rock of Chicamauga”.—There were present at the reunion 50 members of the family and with friends, a total of 80. The sister and eight of the brothers were present, John being the absent one,___ThLe day was ^ perfect one, andgreatiy^enjoyed by-ill. Several contests were intijlged in, the victors being: quoit pitching, William and Jos eph Hankinson; pigeon shooting,Hayes Hankinson* croquet, Misses. Mamie and^Elsie Hankinson.
