Some of which many people know nothing about, and others they recognize, such as make up, lighting, and costumes. The Sikeston Little Theatre will begin their 20th season this year involved in those same tasks for new productions but only with a little more experience The experience is marked in the theatre group’s 20th year, their 20th anniversary.A 12 member board of directors was selected in 1958 to begin the Sikeston Litle Theatre and SLT was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1959 by the State of Missouri. The first board members were Dick Brown. Catherine Craig. Dr Tom Chidester. Mary Thornton, Jean McCord. Jack Yount. Earl Jarvis (president), Charles Matthews IV.Fielding Potashnick. Mrs Helen Reuber, Mrs Thedamav Cleek and Miss Electa O'Hara. Mrs. Cleek still serves as a board member and Miss O’Hara has been treasurer of the organization for the past 19 years. They are the only original members of the board still serving in an active positionSikeston Little Theatre is the only Little Theatre group between Memphis, Tenn., and St Louis.Since the first production ofBlithe Spirit” in October of 19.59. SLT has operated strictly on an amateur basis. Profits are used to purchase needed equipment and formaintenance of SLT's home.garments more suited for •Hamlet”, said Mrs. Cleek. Members of SLT welcome participation in the productions as a sort of community effort.SLT members are now in the midst of a membership drive for the coming year Membership prices are as follows: $3 student. $5 adult. $12 patron. $25 and over for Booster, $100 and over for Angel. Patron, Booster and Angel memberships are tax deductible. The drive which began at the First National Bank, Aug 23, by setting up a calling committee, will continue through Aug. 30. Kingshighway. Before basing all productions at the center, the SLT crew gave performances at the Middle School gym, Coca-Cola Building, Lee Hunter School, airport lunch room. Dr. Leo Bruce's office, Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church. American Legion, and many private homes.Scheduled productions this year will include the musical Pajama Game”, set for November and Dark at the Top of the Stairs” in February. Also as an added attraction, the SLT board is considering a special Christmas production.To begin a play, board members make up a committee that selects the production, a director is then chosen and along with him (or her) comes a music director,choreographer, technical director, stage manager and set crew.
