TO PRESENT THE GOLDEN GATE QUARTET, SEPT. 16“The William A. ilunton Branch YMCA is sponso; -ing the world’s foremost singing group, the Golden Cate Quartet, in concert on Sunday afternoon, September 16 at 4 o’clock at the American Legion Auditorium. Tickets advanced sale will be $1.00, tax included, or $1.25, tax included, at the door. Please call 2-8842 for ticket information.The Golden Gate Quartet is the only outstanding vocal unit that works cooperative-3y on all its numbers. At one time they did not employ an arranger of any kind. Out of memories of boyhood in Norfolk, Va., they recalled spirituals they had heard in churches and at camp meetings. They put together the groups of words each one remembered and each contributed his idea of what form the melodic line should take. Working out every note and chord on a cooperative basis, they did not have to write their arrangements down on paper.
