More than TOO persons, members of the Masonic and Eastern Star ; lodges of Linn county, gathered at Bever park at 12:30 p. m. today for a big picnic dinner and social after neon. The affair is the Eighteenth annual picnic of the Linn County Masonic association, which includes thirteen chapters of the Blue lodge and eleven Eastern Star chapters.Mokre.is’ orchestra furnished music during the dinner hour and for the program. Following the din ner and after a social hour had t een spent in fraternal fellowship, the fol-i lowing program was given: America, I audience; invocation. The Rev. Dr. E. R. Burkhalter. address of welcome, Charles Sutherland; address, Prof. B. Shimek of Iowa City: business meeting and selection of next picnic place. IThe games were to include the following: |50 yard dash. boys under 12 years, prizes of 75. 50, and 25 cents; 50 yard dash, girls under 12 years, prizes 75. 50 and 25 cents: 100yard dash for men, 31 and 30 cents; 100 yard dash for women. $1 and cents; peanut race for women, 75. 50, and 25 cents; nail driving con j test for women, 75, 50, and 25 cents;screaming contest for women. $1 and 50 cents; watermelon eating contest for boys under 16, 75, 50, and 25 jents; Tug-of-war between lodges.
