Oar oivio holiday thia yeat Will be remembered a» most enjoyable and tho programtoo of proceedings varied andinteresting. The day was cool and pleasant. Theearly morning rain gave nature a look ol freshness and beanty, aud tbe heavy.etorm in the afternoon agreeably came between tbe conclusion ol the afternoon programme and the evening oonoert. The first event of tho day was tbecplubmbpiiiu procefcsion, which from thostandpoint' ol the ridiculous was an eminent auccoaa. From little Johnnie Mullen astride a donkey, to ibe Gold P/ospector with hie mining outfit bound for tho Klondike, “the get- op of the various Characters was very creditably accomplished, and the parade brought to the surfaceall the latent risibiiitlee of tbe;muUi|udesof citizens and. visitors'who viewed it. It would be ifividloua to give, the palm to any iringie paitloipafit or company. They all excelled in ladiorous costumes and ou t-fits, and as a wholo made a burlesque serenade of the flnt order. 1 Brookes Marine Band from their beautiful (?) chariot disporded tncaio along the line of maroh almost incessantly. The cyclists who engaged in the parado are to be oompllmeuted upon the • success of their first effort to a decorated parade.Intereat in' the afternoon's proceedingscentered in the lacrosse match between the Tascarora Indians and the Orescent* o! Acton. Two hoars of spirited play provided an exoiting and interesting placo in theafternoon’s programme for the large gathering ot spectators. To see the native Indian in his national sad historical game lent a peouliar interest. The matoh, however, proved that the Indiana were not to fleet of foot nor so strong in combination play as out own local team, and the result of the matoh showed this conclusively. There were, however, many brilliant, plays on both sides. The Oreacents have a team to be prond of and there may be onlooked for developements ol.a creditabla character before another season is concluded. .The Indians were good-natured, stalwart fellows and their visit was enjoyed by thosewho came in contact with them. The soorewas 4 to 7 In favor of Acton.• The bicycle and foot raoee and ethersports were the only weak part t^s programme. The events contested arenot worthy of record'.The oonoert in the evening was ft fitting termination to the enjoyable proceedings of the day.- Considerable trouble bad been takenu-to provide talent and from the names on the programme an enjoyable time was assured to the ..J*rgeandienoe which assembled. Itev^ H. A, Macpberson took the chair and ^ably presided. He gave the usnal shor t address and enlivened the proceedings with etory and joke. . Miss Kilgour, Guelph, opened the concert with a piano solo and furnished two others during the evening. Ser selections were much enjoyed and showed a superior degree of technique and expression. Miss MoOsllam, . elocutionist, favored the audience with a number ofexcellent selections. Sbo Is a favorite inActon and will always be well received here. Mrs. McCarthy, soprano, of Toronto, is also a favorite here, and her ■elections w«™ well rendered.Fax, comic, sang a nnrober of laughable | ] songs and was vigorously encored.
