Mrs. Margaret Allen, age ninety, died at 2:40 Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter. Mrs. 3M. H.Wilson, in Barr township.•Mrs. Margaret Allen, third daughter of Elijah and Lucinda (Hutchinson) Eads, was born at Harrison, Ohio, April 3, IS23. On December6, 1830, her father came to this county and purchased from Col. John Allen the farm where Elwood Baldwin now: lives. Here she grew' towomanhood enduring die hardships of that day, she had only meager opportunity for schools. On December7, IS43, she as married to James C. Allen, the eldest son of William and Elizabeth (Eads) Allen, by Rev. George W. Harp old. They immediately went to housekeeping on the farm where she has ever since re-sided.Seven children were born to them: Mrs. James Morgan, Elijah Allen and Mrs. Millard Kendall all died several years before the mother. Martha Allen, Mrs. Charles Hiam, Mrs. Milton H. Wilson, all of this county, and Mrs. Cephas Morgan of Dayton, Washington, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and other relatives survive and mourn her loss. Her husband died February 9, IS63, leaving the care of the large family upon her. How well she discharged those duties all know.On October 21, 1S4S, she and her husband united with the First Baptist church and were baptized by Rev. William Stansil, pastor. She was the oTdest member in point of age and years of service of this church. She wTas faithful in attendance when able and never lost her interest in the church’s work during nearly sixtj-five years of membership.What a life! Over ninety yearsof life, almost seventy years on thesame farm. Nearly sixty-five years a faithful Christian and over fiftyyears a widow.She was of that good old Scotch-Irish stock, being a cousin of the late Capt. James B. Eads, builder of the great bridge at St. Louis, that wrought such a wonderful influence for good in this country during the last centuries. Six years ago she had a fall that crushed her hip, which made her an invalid, hut she was deeply interested in the affairs of family and country. Last year she became more helpless and.her son-in-law, M. H. Wilson, and family moved into her home, where they and her daughter Martha have tenderly car-ed for her; as she has been helpless since last Novmber. She has done a good work, busy, but always loving and cheerful. The tired hands are at rest, but the memory and influence of a noble life remain.Funeral service will be conducted at Antioch church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. a Interment following at Sugarland cemetery'.
